Training on Combating Addiction Held in Collaboration with Ulus Vocational School and Bartın Yeşilay
The "Combating Addiction Training," organized in collaboration with the Ulus Vocational School’s Commission on Social and Cultural Activities and Bartın Yeşilay, was held again this year with significant participation. Social Worker Kadriye Bulut and Psychologist Ceren Oğur led the training, focusing on current risks associated with addiction and ways to prevent them.
During the session, various forms of addiction, particularly those faced by young people—such as substance abuse, smoking, alcohol dependency, and the rapidly growing issue of technology addiction—were thoroughly discussed. The negative physical, psychological, and social impacts of these addictions were shared with the participants.
The event not only highlighted the harms of addiction but also concentrated on strategies for prevention and combatting addiction. Critical information was provided on raising awareness and taking preventive measures. Special emphasis was placed on social media and digital gaming addictions, which are increasingly prevalent among young people, along with methods to maintain a balanced approach to technology use.
Throughout the training, students had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers. These questions covered a broad range of topics, including the early stages of addiction, methods of early intervention, and the role of family and social circles in combating addiction. The event contributed to raising students’ awareness and educating them on how to protect themselves from addictions.
At the conclusion of the session, Assistant Director of Ulus Vocational School, Dr. Erdal Güler, presented certificates of appreciation to the speakers, bringing the event to a close.
