PARAFEST 2025 Highlights the Unifying Power of Inclusive Sport
The unifying spirit of sport came to life at PARAFEST 2025, organized through the collaboration of universities from the Western Black Sea Region. Hosted by our university, the festival brought together students with diverse developmental characteristics, who competed side by side and delivered a powerful message of “sport without barriers.”
Competitions held across a wide range of disciplines—from wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball to goalball and table tennis—offered spectators moments of both excitement and deep emotion. Students from Ulus Vocational School also took their places in the stands, accompanied by Disability Student Unit Coordinators Lecturer Dr. Erdal Güler and Lecturer Dr. Gözde Buharalı, experiencing firsthand the inspiring atmosphere of this special event.
Empathy and Awareness Fostered Through Sport
The participation process, designed to strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility, contributed significantly to enhancing their perspectives on disability. Planned with the goal of promoting an inclusive society, the event not only reinforced inter-university cooperation but also added lasting value to the sporting culture and social awareness of the young participants.
