AFAD Delivers Disaster Awareness Training to Ulus Vocational School Students
As part of the “Disaster-Ready University” initiative carried out by Bartın University (BARÜ), educational activities aimed at increasing disaster awareness across the university continue. Within this framework, a Disaster Awareness Training was organized for students of Ulus Vocational School in cooperation with the Bartın Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD).
During the training program, AFAD instructors provided comprehensive information to students on precautionary measures to be taken before disasters, appropriate behaviors during disasters, and the necessary actions to be taken after disasters. The program also covered topics such as preparing an emergency kit, the importance of safe assembly areas, and basic disaster awareness.
In the “Earthquake Response Practice” session, which was conducted in an applied format, students were shown the correct actions to take during an earthquake. In particular, essential procedures such as creating a safe space using the “Drop–Cover–Hold On” technique, indoor evacuation rules, and panic management were demonstrated through practical exercises.
Through this training, it is aimed to increase students’ awareness of disasters and improve their ability to respond correctly in the event of a possible disaster.
